The Food Services Managers plans, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of all Catering or Concessions areas on the Food Services team. While the ideal candidate will specialize in either Catering or Concessions, there will be some overlapping cross training and sharing of responsibilities. Minimum Training and Experience

Degree in Food Services, Business, or related field preferred and three to five years of experience in food service management, fast food, concessions or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Must possess required certification in food service sanitation. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and requires in excess of forty hours worked per week. Accountant

The Accountant is responsible for general accountant duties and performing miscellaneous accounting activities while ensuring all policies and procedures are being followed. Maintains accounts receivable records and billings. Reports to the Controller.

Accountant Duties Include:

  • Performs various accounting duties and functions in areas of need within the Finance Department while ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance.
  • Prepare and record transactional journal entries into the general ledger systems. These transactions may relate to a variety of areas such as daily sales, fixed assets, payroll, cash, investments, expense accruals, etc.
  • Works closely with Accounts Payable and provides support for AP overflow and backup.
  • Maintains accounts receivable records and enters billing. Processes and submits invoices to customers. Reviews aging reports and investigates overdue items.
  • Applies best practices to all Finance areas by adding value through process improvement and creating workflow efficiencies.
  • Receives, reviews, prepares, and/or submits various reports.
  • Assists in preparation of annual audit.
  • Performs various monthly account reconciliations/ analysis
  • Reconciles daily bank activity
  • Works closely with other departments and maintains open communication

Minimum Training and Experience

Requires a degree in Accounting or related field. Three to five years of experience in Public Accounting or experience within an organization of $30-50 million in revenue. Director of Major Gifts

Under limited supervision, the Director of Major Gifts assists with developing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with a special focus on five-figure multi-year gifts to support the Zoo’s Foundation, Capital Campaign, and related programs. Works closely with fellow Development team to align efforts and set goals. Reports to the Vice President of Development & Membership.

Director of Major Gifts:

  • Identify major gift prospects through donor research to predict a donor’s ability and likelihood to give.
  • Maintain detailed records in the Zoo’s software system as well as in electronic files, and regularly reports to donors on how their gifts are creating the desired impact.
  • Cultivate major gift donations by building meaningful relationships with new, existing and potential donors.
  • Knowledgeable about Toledo Zoo exhibits, activities, initiatives and programs so that donors can be engaged in the diversity of areas where they have a particular interest and the ability to provide financial support.
  • Maintains regular contact with existing and potential donors, in one-on-one meetings as well as social engagements at the Zoo or in the community.
  • Plans and organizes stewardship events for the Development team to stay engaged with donors.
  • Develops funding proposals utilizing existing Zoo programs and initiatives as well as spearheading new ideas and concepts.

  • Interacts and communicates with both clients and staff
  • Utilizes various types of equipment and machinery including Transit van, golf cart, computer, printer, digital safe, vacuums, floor scrubbers, mop buckets, various table carts cleaning solution dispensers and other basic cleaning equipment
  • Assists crew with transporting needs from one location to another

Education Project PRAIRIE Intern

Education Project PRAIRIE Intern

Reports to: School and Community Programs Coordinator

Schedule: Flexible time periods and hours based on the needs of the department and the candidate but generally 32-40 hours/week for a minimum of four months.

Internship Overview:

This internship runs from mid-July through December and is designed for college students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in informal education, conservation or a related field. Interns will work directly with the School and Community Programs Coordinator and other education staff teaching Project PRAIRIE programs. Project PRAIRIE (PP) is a conservation education program of the Toledo Zoo (TZ) that works with the TZ Conservation Department to install prairie habitat on school campuses throughout northwest Ohio. The TZ Education Department then trains teachers about the prairie habitat and how to incorporate the prairie into their lessons. Additionally, TZ educators work directly with elementary, middle and high school students in the prairie, facilitating inquiry and citizen science based lessons. The intern will work with TZ education staff teaching PP teacher professional development events and conducting inquiry and citizen science based lessons with students in school prairies.

The internship program will include opportunities to participate in prairie installations and develop inquiry and citizen science based lessons for use in the prairies and classroom.

This internship is a paid position at $12/hr

Requirements:

Junior or Senior in college or recent graduate with a major/minor in Education, Biology, Ecology or related field;

The Food Services Managers plans, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of all Catering or Concessions areas on the Food Services team. The Accountant is responsible for general accountant duties and performing miscellaneous accounting activities while ensuring all policies and procedures are being followed. Maintains accounts receivable records and billings. Reports to the Controller.

Accountant Duties Include:

  • Performs various accounting duties and functions in areas of need within the Finance Department while ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance.
  • Prepare and record transactional journal entries into the general ledger systems. These transactions may relate to a variety of areas such as daily sales, fixed assets, payroll, cash, investments, expense accruals, etc.
  • Works closely with Accounts Payable and provides support for AP overflow and backup.

Under limited supervision, the Director of Major Gifts assists with developing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with a special focus on five-figure multi-year gifts to support the Zoo’s Foundation, Capital Campaign, and related programs. Education Project PRAIRIE Intern

Education Project PRAIRIE Intern

Reports to: School and Community Programs Coordinator

Schedule: Flexible time periods and hours based on the needs of the department and the candidate but generally 32-40 hours/week for a minimum of four months.

Internship Overview:

This internship runs from mid-July through December and is designed for college students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in informal education, conservation or a related field. Interns will work directly with the School and Community Programs Coordinator and other education staff teaching Project PRAIRIE programs. Project PRAIRIE (PP) is a conservation education program of the Toledo Zoo (TZ) that works with the TZ Conservation Department to install prairie habitat on school campuses throughout northwest Ohio. The TZ Education Department then trains teachers about the prairie habitat and how to incorporate the prairie into their lessons. Additionally, TZ educators work directly with elementary, middle and high school students in the prairie, facilitating inquiry and citizen science based lessons. The intern will work with TZ education staff teaching PP teacher professional development events and conducting inquiry and citizen science based lessons with students in school prairies.

The internship program will include opportunities to participate in prairie installations and develop inquiry and citizen science based lessons for use in the prairies and classroom.

This internship is a paid position at $12/hr

Requirements:

Junior or Senior in college or recent graduate with a major/minor in Education, Biology, Ecology or related field;
Strong willingness to learn, positive attitude, and team mentality
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred

Primary Responsibilities:
